Question of the day:

Why is there a 1964½ Mustang? They only seem to do this for the one year. In reality if you look at the build date of many cars and trucks, they were built a year before release. Example, the build date on my 2006 Mustang GT was August of 2005, yet it was still a 2006 model year. The build date on my 2017 was in March 2016, in fact it was first sold in November of 2016. Yet is was a 2017 Model.

Bob,
My wife's first car was a 64 -1/2 Mustang coupe. The 64 - 1/2 cars were supposed to have been sold to the public in the late spring of '64. That's before the normal release date of the new model year. Her Mustang had a 260 CI V8 with a 4 speed manual trans. We've been told that the 260 V8 was a 64 - 1/2 only engine with '65s getting only the 289 as the V8 option.

You go by the VIN and it is 1965 MY. Our 2013 was produced March 29, 2012, but it is a 2013.

PS: Is your Mustang here yet???
