I just bought a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 for a restoration project. My son and I have always wanted to learn more about cars and love the old Mustangs. We figured a restoration project would be a good way for us to dive in!

Our car came off the line with a 351W. It now has a 302. Because the numbers don't match, we feel we have a little more freedom to make some modifications. We have kicked around a number of ideas such as upgrading the engine, subframe, suspension, brakes, steering (oh my, this is going to be expensive!). Whatever we do, we plan to keep the essential character of a Mach 1. We plan to do most of the work ourselves other than the body work and paint. Much of the metal work is done but we would like to have the underside media blasted and painted. We will also hire out the paint job.

We welcome any ideas or suggestions, including local body and paint shops. We look forward to meeting all of you.

Sounds like a fun project, Tim. You should post some pictures of the progress as you proceed.
